I'm Getting Back Into My Creative Stride (Photography + Video + Slam Poetry)

As I begin to create content for my new YouTube channel I have been getting back into my creative zone. While I would not consider myself an expert in the world of video production, I have always had an infatuation with it in the same manner that I did/do with photography.

For the past year I decided to withhold my new work because I wanted to get better at it. I wanted to learn how could I effectively give my photography stories visuals and they have the same (if not better) depiction of why I created them. I am also working on cooking videos, journalism stories, daily vlogs, and gaming content on my YouTube channel as well.

Initially I was planning on just a gaming channel, but I know I have more to offer than just the latter. It is quite amazing to me seeing the work that video professionals put in from pre-production blueprint plans (story/idea boards), actual production, and post production work.

In my mind I always go back to the beginning of when I said to myself "once I am able to work for myself, I will do everything that I love to do... no strings attached." The thing about doing everything on my own is taking the time to actually learn the basics.

Of course I would rather put out new work way sooner than later, but one thing I have learned over the past year of working for myself is that I don't have to rush anything. I am on no one's schedule, but my own. Most notably I have gained a ton of inspiration from my my favorite YouTubers and studied their work. I study how they marketed themselves (and the videos) in addition to all of the intricate details that comes with running a YouTube channel (yes I do read all of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy details).

Another part of my work that I have been getting back into is my slam poetry. I have shared snippets on my Instagram, however, I am going to start sharing the slam poems here on the blog. There will be no boundaries as to what I will cover. Literally anything that is on my mind will be the content. I will break them up into pages like a book, yet they will not be in a chronological order.

To have complete control of my content (including time) has always been one of my top goals. Now that I am able to live out that dream/goal, I am beyond excited for this journey. I am currently working on an introduction type of video for my YouTube channel, which I should have up pretty soon.

To end this on a high note... if you are an artist/content creator and aspire to make it your life, never let someone tell you that you can't do it. You can and you will! Live your life exactly the way that you want to. Trust me, despite all of the potholes and stressful times, I wouldn't change any of it for anything.
