#WeekendCoffeeShare: America Is Too Fucking Late For Gun Laws

Grab some coffee... an entire pot because this is going to be a long conversation between me and you.

America (United States) is becoming the prime example of gun control reform to other countries around the world. A country that has been highly regarded to as "the greatest country in the world" our society is not upholding the subjective prestigious title.

How in the fucking hell did we as a country become so accustomed to senseless murders and mass shootings, that instead of doing something about the easy access of guns/weapons, we just watch as innocent civilians are taken literally every single day?

Individuals have to choose whether to stay home and have fun, or go to a public event for fun and pray/hope someone does not have the intentions to kill. It is becoming more of a luxury now to even be in a public venue and feel safe with proper authorities and security measures in place.

I remember in the 90s growing up there were no second thoughts about going outside. There was no sense of safety being in jeopardy when playing hide and seek with friends around the entire neighborhood. If anything, we worried about dogs (small or big) jumping the fences, yet we all knew the closest car or place we could run to in order to avoid them. (And we were pretty fast in regards to running. At least I was!)

Within the past two days alone, Orlando, Florida has experienced horrific shootings. The first occurred late Friday night including Christina Grimmie (Singer and YouTube content creator). I would rather not re-write about that it would hurt too much, so you can view my open letter appreciative blog post about/for her here. However, I will share a news video that can sum up the situation.

(Note, I will not use a direct news outlet video for Christina's case because they are starting to ID the shooter. Eventually mainstream media will do the same for Pulse, but I have found a video/article from ABC that will most likely not be updated just to ID the gunman. I do not want either of the shooters to ever get any recognition and I hope you all don't share their photos or information anywhere. Unfortunately mainstream news outlets have to do their job respectively and ID the gunmen.)

The second shooting is still a developing story at this exact moment. Late Saturday night, Pulse (a popular gay night club) experienced what is now being labeled "domestic terror incident" and "mass casualty shooting." It is unclear if there was more than one shooter, but at least one gunman was killed (thankfully). ABC has released information including as many as 42 injured and approximately 20 people were killed.

This is just one city in one state within one country in two days. (Let that marinate in your mind for a little bit.)

I am pretty comfortable with staying in my own bubble at this point. Concerts, clubs, sporting events, literally any venue outside of your home is subject to not being safe because of these sadistic individuals. Unfortunately many of these venues do not have full body metal detectors.

There are individuals, victims, and victims families whom are calling for strict beyond words gun laws (and respectively so)! Then there is the other side (law abiding gun owners) that think everyone is now coming after their guns and infringing upon their right to bear arms (according to the 2nd amendment in the constitution... respectively).

America for many of us who would just like to live life happy and full of fun with loved ones while feeling safe outside of our homes... you are not giving us much hope here.

Family members are being taken from their husbands/wives, brothers/sisters, fathers/mothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents every single day. Fans are seeing their favorite artists/public figures performing one day doing what they love, and the next day gone from this Earth. The least you could do for us in society who would not like to lose our loved ones or our own lives to senseless gun violence is make it extremely hard for anyone to obtain a gun.

You could take a play from countries such as Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Singapore, United Kingdom, Romania, Australia, and many others when it comes to gun control. Unfortunately, even if you did, criminals already have their guns and they have already created black markets for gun purchases to avoid you catching them until it is too late.

Every single day we have to hope that our loved ones (and even ourselves) do not become the next news story attached to a random shooter.

America... you are too fucking late when it comes to gun control and strict gun laws! Because of this, all we can do is sit back and watch every day as innocent lives are taken by individuals who should never have access to guns in the first place.
