#WeekendCoffeeShare: Target I Will Never Stop Shopping At Your Stores

Let's sit down with some great coffee and have a serious conversation right now. As you probably know by now Target has been receiving a lot of negative comments, consumer threats, and down right immature slander over their decision to allow transgender individuals use the bathrooms of the gender they identify as. This has absolutely nothing to do with a situation such as an employee disrespecting a customer, or a major problem with a product that they sell. All of this animosity and controversy is simply about ethics.

Now, this might now sound so great in the beginning, but overall it will all make sense. I have always shopped at Target more than their competitors *cough cough stupid Wal-Mart* because they simply have better deals and a friendly staff. There is not one Target I have been to in the country that I have had a bad experience at. With that being said... I am not 100% on board with this decision right now.

Transgender individuals should not be disrespected, given less rights, or mistreated by any means whatsoever. The issue that I have with this is not the true/full fledged transgender individuals who identify as their respective gender, it is the past, current, and future sexual offenders/predators I worry about.

There is no way to actually "vet out" transgender individuals at all. Even if there was a way to check individuals out before entering the bathroom... 1) That would be completely disrespectful and a huge invasion of privacy. 2) If Target even utters the words "we have a process to vet out individuals for safety purposes" that would immediately open up the gates of lawsuit hell.

Unfortunately (and I truly hate to even say this) since there is no way to basically tell anyone "no" when it comes to entering Target bathrooms, it is only a matter of time before some creepy, disgusting individual try to take advantage of the situation.

I understand that transgender individuals would like to simply use the bathrooms of the gender they identify as and that is okay. I have never seen nor had a bad experience being around transgender individuals at all.

When you look at it as a logical grown adult with common sense, they are human beings just like we all are. There is no need to judge and criticize someone for what they have chosen with/for their lives. I'm tired of seeing how people in society love to judge, but not be judged. As long as someone is not causing harm to others, respect what people choose to do with their own bodies.

Target has seen a 5.4% fall of revenue plus stock drop in the 2nd quarter. Many detractors say that it is because of this transgender bathroom scenario. However, Target CEO Brian Cornell has mentioned this to Fortune...

“To date we have not seen a material or measurable impact on our business. just a handful of stores across the country have seen some activity and have been impacted.”

Hopefully all of that made complete sense because at the end of the day, I will always continue shopping at Target! Especially when I move back home to Colorado.... I definitely plan on splurging as much as I can on new home products that I will need.

What do you all think about this? Do you agree, disagree, absolutetly hate the idea of what Target is allowing? Or are you thinking like me and knowing that it is not the transgender individuals we worry about, it is the creeps?
