Trying Out The Duolingo App

Last night I was reading one of my favorite blogs  called TipsyWriter by Megan Johnson. In her blog is a post titled 5 Websites To Help You Keep Learning and I highly suggest you all read it after reading my post (of course!)

Since my late high school years up to now, I have always wanted to learn different languages. First was Spanish, then Italian, and German. While I have still retained a little bit of them all, I am not as fluent as I truly want to be.

With this in mind, one of the websites Megan recommended is Duolingo. The moment I realized that this a reputable language learning website/app, I immediately downloaded the app on both my iPhone and iPad. So far all I have done as of now is the latter. Later on within the day I will begin my first course for Spanish. There are a variety of languages that are available that includes the following.

  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Dutch
  • Swedish
  • Irish
  • Turkish
  • Russian
  • Danish
  • Norwegian
  • Esperanto
  • Ukrainian
  • Polish
  • Welsh
  • Vietnamese
  • Hebrew
  • Greek
  • Hungarian
  • Czech
  • Romanian
  • Swahili
  • Hindi
  • Klingon
  • Korean
  • Indonesian

With this wide variety (some being in their beta phases) I'm going to start with what I already know first and then continue on from there. This is going to be such an amazing new experience that I have been waiting for!

Right now I'm thinking that it would be best that I track my progress on my Twitter instead of write a flood of blog posts. I have set my daily goal to the highest possible (50 XP) and I plan on meeting the daily goal every single day.

What languages are you currently fluent in other than your native? What languages would you like to learn?
