#WeekendCofffeeShare: Going Against The Status Quo Is Never Easy

In today’s society the mantra from John Lydgate is starting to look a bit more like a distant memory transitioning into all or nothing.

“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”

Going against the status quo now and days is harder than it was back when I was a kid in the 90s. Many people self-consciously believe that no matter what they do, they will always stay exactly where they are. Honestly, individuals should never feel like that in life. However, that does not give them the right to criticize those who may just want to take a risk and jump out of the bubble.

Personally, I have experience being criticized by peers and close friends/family just because what I wanted to do wasn’t normal. Instead of taking what would be considered “the safe way” is not always the best way for an individual.

Everyone has dreams of one day having it all (however they define “all” in their lives). Of course the road is not going to be easy, but it will be worth it if you make it so. Sometimes it may feel as if people are basically saying “until you prove us wrong, then we don’t have to believe you” and it sucks. The people you think would support you without hesitation somehow believe that it is your duty to make them a believer first.

In some cases, individuals going against the status quo may travel on that journey completely alone until they meet new people/friends.

No matter what it is you are doing that may seem like it’s against the status quo… just know you are not alone. (Of course all of this pertains to things, situations, and actions that are legal i.e. going to college when your high school peers think college is lame.)

When you fall asleep every night (or during the day depending on your sleep schedule) the dreams you see and enjoy are all yours. If you are beyond excited in your dreams of the perception that you see accomplishing a goal, then you should wake up with that same enthusiasm no matter what.

There is nothing worse about a life than a person who dreamed about a glorious life, but never did so because of other people’s opinions.
