Introducing Pikachu The Private Investigator

For those who have followed the hype of Detective Pikachu making an epic debut… our wishes have now been granted! Initially the hype began in 2013 surrounding the new game. Not much buildup has circulated around this or any substantial sneak peaks for that matter. In normal fashion of any Pokémon game, we are given a brief taste and official teaser to keep us anticipating until more information becomes available.

Our beloved childhood partner Pikachu will now be the Private Investigator on the upcoming Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo game. Much like the main Pokémon series has been, we will be taken on a journey throughout a multitude of scenarios and villains that we need to conquer.

As of now, we know that there will be a variety of crimes, puzzles, and mysteries to solve. While it is still up to speculation whom the scoundrels will be, it would not be a surprise if old foes make a cameo in the game. Me personally, I think appearances including Team Rocket, Team Aqua, Team Magma, and/or Giovanni would be fitting. However, if there are new opponents standing in our way, then so be it.

While most die-hard Pokémon trainers (especially the competitive trainers) are waiting for a new generation of Pokémon Z (or remake of an older version) this shall suffice for now.

The new game will be released on the Nintendo eShop on February 3rd in Japan for 1,200 yen ($10.12 USD). The price will stay the same until February 29th (a special day considering it is a Leap Year). After that, the price will increase a little bit to 1,500 yen ($12.65 USD). There are no official dates available as of yet regarding US, Europe, or other region releases.

No worries though, the rest of the world is typically behind when it comes to the release of Pokémon games anyways. I wouldn’t expect that all of us Pokémon trainers outside of Japan would have to wait too much longer. We will keep you up-to-date on information regarding official release dates.
