The Future of Pokemon Games

As the year is coming to a close Pokemon fans are growing anxious and excited for the next chapters. However, we do not have much information to stand on other than speculations and carefully thought out theories.

In September, President and CEO of The Pokemon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara announced groundbreaking news.Pokemon GO will be a mobile app game that will bring Pokemon into the real world (metaphorically speaking) in 2016. Pokken Tournament for Wii U will also be released in 2016.

For many adults who grew up playing the Pokemon games on Gameboy this is a dream come true. We will be able to search for wild Pokemon in cafes, shopping malls, in backyards… anywhere! The mobile game app is set for 2016 and will be available for iPhone and Android devices.

Now here comes the scary part. There are no confirmed game releases for the Nintendo 3DS series. Pokemon Z (the newest series known to man) will be centered around Zygarde and all of its new forms. However, that is the most concrete fact we know of right now. The region is unknown, new Pokemon – which would mean we are entering Generation 7 – is questionable, and the release date is nowhere to be found.

Hopefully Nintendo will begin to release some official news about Pokemon Z and the series in general soon. Right now, we (Nintendo and Pokemon Trainers) need to have a chat. My play time on Pokemon Alpha Sapphire is currently at 956:14 and I am beyond ready for a new adventure.
